From Sunrise Coffee to Sunset Cocktails: Our Beach Club Adventures in Corfu

One of my absolute favorite things about being on holiday is finding those perfect seaside spots where you can just kick back, dip your toes in the water, sip something cold, and feel like time has slowed down. In Corfu, we stumbled upon two beach clubs that completely stole our hearts—La Grotta Bar in Paleokastritsa and Imabari right in Corfu Town. Both were so different but equally perfect in their own way.

La Grotta Bar – Cliffside Magic in Paleokastritsa

If you picture a dreamy Greek island scene—the kind with turquoise water, dramatic cliffs, and music drifting on the breeze—La Grotta is exactly that. To get there, you walk down what feels like a hundred and forty steps (toddler on hip optional… although my legs definitely got a workout!), and suddenly you’re in this little slice of heaven carved right into the rocks.

We headed there one afternoon before dinner in town, and it was the perfect spot to while away a few hours. My husband and brother-in-law were straight in the water, cliff jumping and loving every second of it, while I was more than happy with a cold drink in hand, watching them leap into the sea like kids. The water was calm, clear, and amazing for a swim—just one of those places where you can’t resist diving in, even if you’ve promised yourself you’ll just “sit and watch.”

It’s definitely better for slightly older kids (lots of steps and rocky edges), but if you have adventurous little ones, they’ll love it. Ours was happy splashing in the shallows while we took turns diving in.

Imabari – Laid-Back Luxury in Corfu Town

We decided to start one of our Corfu Town days at Imabari, heading there first thing in the morning to make the most of the quiet, calm vibe before it got busy. This beach club sits right under the Old Fortress, giving you city convenience and beachside relaxation all in one spot — perfect when you don’t feel like venturing far but still want those holiday feels.

We arrived right as they opened and scored one of the best spots by the water. Beachside chairs just steps from the sea made it easy for us to hop in with our toddler for a splash, then retreat back to our loungers to dry off together. Breakfast was amazing—fresh, light, and paired with really lovely coffee that hit the spot after an early start. Not long after, the coffee cups made way for cocktails and a chilled glass of wine (because, holidays!). We spent the whole morning soaking up the sun, enjoying the slow pace of the day, and watching boats drift by with the Old Fortress in the background. The whole place had this cool, stylish feel without being pretentious, and it was one of those “I could stay here all day” kind of spots.

Why We Loved Both

  • La Grotta: Wild, dramatic, a little adventurous. Perfect for a fun afternoon and unforgettable views.

  • Imabari: Relaxed, chic, and so convenient for a family beach day after sightseeing.

If you’re planning a trip to Corfu, I’d definitely recommend fitting both in. Spend a day exploring the island’s west coast and finish with a swim and sunset drink at La Grotta, then dedicate another day to wandering Corfu Town and winding down at Imabari.

Both gave us those pinch-me holiday moments that make you fall in love with a place—and they were toddler-approved, which is always a win.
